Mt. Talamitam Itinerary: day hike

Mt. Talamitam is great for newbie climbers.
Hiking, Mountain Climbing | Mt. Talamitam
Sitio Bayabasan, Barangay Aga, Nasugbu, Batangas
605 MASL (summit/campsite)
Specs: Easy climb with steep assault to summit (about 100m), view of Batangas towns and neighboring mountains.
Trek time: 1.5-2.5 hours

-->

Things to consider:
. Sitio Bayabasan is in the kilometer 83 marker, where an Iglesia ni Cristo sign is posted along the road
. Registration fees are collected by Barangay officials. You won't have a hard time finding the registration area because there are signs posted on the road.
. Everybody knows Sir Nick Wijanco, a climbing enthusiast who lives in the area (09176135986), just ask around if you can’t find his house
· Trekking during daytime can get really hot since there aren’t any shady trees; make sure you bring proper protection (arm guards, hat)
. You can refill your water bottles at Sir Nick’s place
. Bring all necessities since there’s no market nearby (food, condiments)

Options:
. You may park your car at Sir Nick’s if you decide to bring one
. There are two trails to get to the summit: one easy sloping assault, and the other direct 60-degree assault
. You may request a guide from the barangay for P200
· Some hikers proceed to Mt. Batulao, Mt. Talamitam’s sister mountain, which is only a jeep ride away
. There's a trail to traverse the mountain, which will lead you to Kayrilaw Elementary School (the old trail)
. Just adjust this itinerary if you want to stay overnight; Add about 30 minutes trekking time up and down the mountain since you'll be bringing a heavier backpack. You can also check in at some of the hotels in the Tagaytay-Nasugbu highway area.

Budget: around P430 per pax.
Budget estimate for 5 people:
640 bus to Batangas (~P128 from Taft)
640 bus back to Manila (~P128)
100 barangay fees (P20)
500 food share
250 misc

  1. We just met Sir Nick yesterday. We learned so much just talking to him for half an hour. The mountain looks very inviting! The sound of the chainsaw is full-time now though. We better put a stop to it if we want to have trees left in that mountain for our children... :(

  2. Oh no.. really? it's bad enough that some parts of the mountain is being cleared for crops...
Something has to be done about this.

  4. @Ronmar - If you're interested to join climbs, try joining a group. MFPI (Mountaineering Federation of Ph Inc) holds a meeting every 1st thursday of the month in pioneer center. Maybe u can meet some people there :)
